an OldToaD remaster, Unknown audience recording, Cedar 1a, D1 70:16, D2 34:53, The comments on the next line were received with the original BT download:-, excellent sound [A-];noisy crowd (mainly screams) in a few places and some echo., *******************************************************************************************, The Cedar1 fingerprint is plainly to be heard:-, At the very top of the recording, a woman says, "Baby steps." Also, there's a, conversation audible between two women on the left after "God Knows" about the, first two songs: "I didn't know that one, but the first one, it was vaguely familiar.", "The first one I'd heard before." "Yeah.", The further comments from the Cedar website are listed below for reference., Sound is really very good on the whole: warm, full, usually nicely balanced, with, especially clear piano. However, the crowd is often in the foreground and quite chatty --, perhaps this is why the taper moves at around 1:02 of "Memphis Blues Again," causing volume, fluctuations for about a minute. Some level distortion during "Highwater," and some odd, crackles (?) as well. On "Summer Days," one guitar is dramatically louder than the other., ********************************************************************************************, disc one, Throughout this set some very localised efforts to reduce the crowd noise have been, undertaken where this action would not be detrimental to the music., Clicks have been removed from D1 T2 at the following places 0:47.055, 0:47.255, 0:56.740, 2:36.736 & 2:48.042, The volume fluctuations evident in D1 T8 have been corrected as best as possible, however, in my opinion the stereo image shifts a little due to the perambulations of the taper, who, is evidently trying to find respite from rather intrusive local crowd noise. For this reason, there is a moment where the sound seems to move from one track to the other, this could not, be altered. Clicks have been removed at 2:33.082 & 2:33.974. From about 3:20 some sporadic, audience clapping is noticable., Some slight amplitude clipping has been corrected in D1 T10., D1 T11 (Not Dark Yet) has been enhanced by +3dB, just noticable, and enough to bring the, song out a little., Any traces of amplitude clipping causing sound distortion have been corrected in D1 T12., The method used was to convert the track to 32 bit, then apply clip restoration with no, attenuation. The track was then hard limited with no boost, but limited to -0.2db. This brings, the clipped audio back into the normal range. The track was then converted back to 16 bit format., There are some very sporadic but faint crackles/clicks from about 4:20 onwards to, 6:40. Some of these have been removed, some were very stubborn, these remain. These artefacts, correspond to the Cedar comments above. A proper fade out has been applied to T12., disc two, The rather harsh clapping at the beginning of D2 T1 (very close to the taper) has been, attenuated slightly. The musical intro has been adjusted in volume very slightly from 0:11.80, to 0:13.2 to smooth out a sudden volume increase evident at about 13 seconds into the track., A screamer has been attenuated a little between 14 and 17 seconds. The occurrence of localised, and light amplitude clipping throughout the song has been corrected., The introduction to D2 T2 has been altered slightly whilst attempting to minimise the nearby, crowd noise. A small "tsk" has been removed at 2:35.875 of D2 T2. The applause at the end of the, track has been attenuated slightly., The comments made above with reference to D2 T3 "Summer Days" are apparent, and of course without, access to a multitrack recording this cannot be altered. I guess the soundboard engineer made a, slightly incorrect setting., The majority of the audience encore between "Summer Days" and "Like A Rolling Stone" has been, previously edited out. I have cross faded the end of T3 and the start of T4 in order to alleviate, a complete fade out between the two tracks. The beginning of T4 was very slightly crackly, this, responded well to attention, but evidence still remains. The band intro has been improved a little., Clicks have been removed at 2:46.309 and 5:49.289 of D2 T5, and slight amplitude clipping has been, corrected, whilst the volume remains unaltered. A "tsk" has been removed at 5:47.080, Received as a bit-torrent download in SHN format, and remastered in Cool Edit Pro., SHN files > mkwACT > waves > remastered in CEP > mkwACT > SHN files, Thanks to the unknown taper for a generally excellent recording, I hope the improvements meet with, your approval, and thanks to Bob and the band for a great show., Enjoy, TheOldToaD, Easter 2005

bittorrent download 09/11; d1t3, d1t4, and d1t5 have matching md5 to spot LB-2183; this has indicated changes from that one and does not have as many squarish wavs on d1t12 as that one; (did not listen to all of this)
