Bob Dylan, 10/14/23, Grand Rapids, Michigan, LB-15873, tascam auto level 24, This concert was recorded by me with a Tascam DR-05 portable digital recorder. I used "Audacity" to change the big, long WAV file into individual FLAC files and I used "Trader's Little Helper" to make it into a torrent., The recording will probably sound a little crazy. I remembered to change the settings from "mp3" to "wav" and even remembered to record at "24 bits," but I forgot about volume and left it on "auto level." I remembered about this as the show started and the little red light indicated the microphone was overloaded, which seemed very bright in the dark theater, so you'll hear me messing around with the machine at the very beginning. There was security everywhere, a total electronics ban and I didn't want to risk being rousted so I decided "fuck it" and just left the recorder running, "auto level" and all., Bob played his rinky tinky piano all night except for the last song, when he also played the harmonica, and he mostly remained seated except when he stood up for emphasis or whatever once in a while. He also appeared to be having a little trouble ambulating at the end of the show. Perhaps his ass fell asleep from sitting on a hard piano bench all night. I recognized Tony Garnier up there, but I have no idea who the rest of his band members are, you can Google it just as well as I can. Weird version of "Gotta Serve Somebody" that sounded like Jack White covering it about 45 minutes after he chugged a gallon of Nyquil. There was a Chuck Berry cover, which is always welcome whover the band is. I'll take Chuck Berry over Frank Fucking Sinatra anytime, very happy that phase is over. I actually enjoyed this evening's versions of the older songs, which usually bore me. This time it was the opposite, there were also interesting versions of "When I Paint My Masterpiece" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight." However, I found his newer material somewhat tedious. The one exception was "Key West," which I didn't really care for on the album but enjoyed tonight. As we were leaving I heard one of the security guards tell an audience member, "I'm not supposed to say this, but that show was horrible!" She seemed to be crying! Fuck those security guards, fuck all of them. --------------------------------------------------- bittorrent download 10/23; did not review this --------------------------------------------------- 1.
