Now first shared on the 44th anniversary of the show. audiowhore notes on how the two sources were used, repaired and mixed ... There are two different known audience recordings of this concert. These are: - LB-197 (LTE recording) - the best quality, stereo source, but only the Bob songs with several cuts - LB-314 (unknown taper) - a much more complete, but poorer quality mono source. All document versions on the Lossless Bob database, including the bootleg 'New Found Faith' are derived from one of the 2 sources above. I have used these sources as follows to create an entire recording in improved quality of this significant concert in Bob history. Tracks 1-7, 16, 26 are from LB-314 Tracks 8-15, 17-25 are from LB-197. The LTE sourced was used wherever possible due to it's better quality. However, the following sections within the LTE source were missing due to tape flips and edits and I have patched these in from the mono LB-314 source as seemlessly as possible: - between tracks 12 and 13, 23 seconds patched in - between tracks 14 and 15, 35 seconds patched in - end of track 15, 26 seconds of crowd patched in before Bob's introduction of Regina - track 19 has 41 seconds patched in from 44 seconds into the song - between tracks 23 and 24, 2 minutes of crowd noise patched in - between tracks 24 and 25, 4.31 minutes patched in, including the first minute of Pressing On - at the end of Pressing On, the LTE source cuts 11 seconds after the last note. A further 9.15 minutes of boisterous crowd applause is patched then in from the end of the mono source for completeness and to show the great final reaction from those who stayed to the end - the end of track 26 is again included for completeness only. It is just further crowd noise leaving the venue and a muffled discussion between the taper and their accomplice. Mixing notes: The LTE source was in the correct pitch/speed indicating that the circulating version was a low generation source from the master. The mono source ran slightly too high and fast. Sections were corrected by between -0.21 Semitones / 101.22% and -0.3 Semitones / 101.75%. Both sources were mixed with the aim of improving them (of course) and making them more consistent with each other so as to minimise the impact for the sections where they have been blended together. A different approach was taken with When He Returns however. On the circulating LTE source, this quiet song has a lot of hiss. Listen to your version and you can hear the hiss increase immediately. I decided to try and reduce this hiss through mixing techniques (not by using destructive hiss or noise reduction). The result is that the richness in the LTE sound has been lost in favour of there being less hiss. I still prefer the sound of the original hissier LTE version but have included this different sounding When He Returns here as it contributes to a more consistant sound through the whole show. The end of Slow Train included a section that only existed from the mono source but which also had CD skipping error noises on it (this appears to be on all versions of this source - go check yours). I repaired this with some holy magic. Throughout the show, i have 'mixed and fixed' anything and everything that i felt improved the overall sound. =================== If burning to CDs, recommended track splits are: CD1 = 1 to 15 CD2 = 16 to 26. =================== My requests: - Please keep this info file with this version so that it is clearly identified. - Don't take and repost this anywhere if you are going to profit from that. This means the youtube channel boys and their ad view income (which they generally deny but i call bullshit on), and those with subscription substacks and blogs that post other people's recordings and work to help grow their follower$. - Thank these 2 tapers for being there and for their generousity in sharing their tapes many years ago. Without them being in the right place at the right time and having the vision to document these performances. ===================
