Bob Dylan, 7/1/00, Del Mar, CA, LB-16633, version "g", Notes on the original version:, LosslessBob has five entries for Del Mar 2000-07-01: LB-00008, LB-01695, LB-06931, LB-08834 and LB-13165., The first four of the LBs derive from the same source recording. LB-00008 has more clipping on the louder tracks than the others, but despite this it seems the best of the four overall., LB-13165 is from a second source. The sound is thinner, with a distinct bias to the right channel., In my collection, I have a different version of this show, likely acquired via a trade or vine. I don't have source information for the recording, which does not match any of the existing LB entries. (One distinctive "fingerprint" is a conversation between two guys just after Visions Of Johanna. It's clear that one of the two is the taper of this recording.), This version also has clipping on the louder tracks, though it's not quite as bad as on LB-00008. The recording picked up a lot of crowd chatter, particularly during the quieter songs, but this is also the case for LB-00008. The main difference is this new one has a fuller, more upfront sound. (It's not a huge upgrade, but it's an improvement nonetheless.), I've reduced the silences at the beginning and end, as well as one at the original disc split., The recording was normalised and then retracked, separating out some non-music sections., No remastering was attempted., Points to note:, - The recording has a fair amount of "channel wandering", which is present throughout the show., - During Long Black Veil the volume dips then rises sharply @ 2:03. (This is present on all the LB entries, however.), - There are buzzes/clicks/noises during Long Black Veil (@ 1:15), Visions Of Johanna (@ 8:42), Delia (@ 6:36) and It's All Over Now, Baby Blue (@ 4:36 & 6:56)., - The original disc split was between Crash On The Levee and Tears Of Rage, with fading out and in either side of that. Comparison with LB-00008 shows that a touch under 4 secs has been omitted. I've tidied this up slightly., - Girl From The North Country is very quiet, with the level being much lower than for the rest of the concert. (Again, this is true of all the LBs.), ################, Notes on the revised version:, The original recording has a lot of intrusive crowd chatter. For this amended version, I've reduced that greatly, though with the following limitations:, - Splitting into separate stems was used, but this isn't foolproof. The general instrument stem had whistles and screams assigned to it, and loud claps ended up with the drums. Isolating such unwanted items for safe removal was often impossible as a result., - Most of the crowd chatter appeared in the same stem as Dylan's vocals. Where the two overlapped, I couldn't of course touch things., - Otherwise, the level for the crowd was drastically lowered during songs, though not eliminated completely, to retain at least some of the feel of an audience recording., Girl From The North Country was very quiet on the original recording. I've upped the level by 30%, though that still leaves it considerably lower than for the rest of the concert. Some other, localised tweaks to levels were also made., The other flaws in the original recording are still present, though some have been reduced in impact., No further remastering was attempted., Some retro-style cover art is included, with the image taken from Dylanstubs.com., Enjoy, Bhoy, Mar 2026 --------------------------------------------------- bittorrent download 05/26; did not review this --------------------------------------------------- 01. concert introduction, 02.
