Scottsays; This is a nice true mono audience recording. Mono Master Audience Cassette., Taper: Scottsays, Master had some problems with several drops squeezing at the highest volume, a couple of them or one at least on every track (except d2t03), from d1t05 to the final track, missing last part of the last one, d2t06. I have been working on it to clean up every drop and patch them using LB-5764, the NTA recording HeinrichG had shared here not so long ago. Thanks to him who gave also his kind permission to use such excellent tape and a wise advice in order to apply the speed correction factor on this one, as I told him I realized the patches were slower than the repaired tape. He was certain the DAT recording was OK and said I should assume the speed of the, cassette recording should be adjusted instead. I agreed. So I did, taking his upload as a reference. It wasn't an easy task cause the cassette recording might have been running faster but slowered at times with drops, maybe due to the jack issue, so I had to leave some speed problems unresolved on a few fragments on the last track and maybe some more throughout, but I can still listen to the complete recording and enjoy it in a seamless way like never before., Flaws detected on the master, now repaired:, continual drops d1t05 from [5:26.715] to [5:30.898], dropout of about 145 samples d1t06 @ [0:21.853], another of 260 samples later @ [2:09.282], and one more of about 10 samples @ [2:09.888], dropout of about 150 samples d1t07 @ [4:57.667], d2t01 cut at the beginning missing the very start, a small fragment of 9.990 sec. patched from LB-5764, dropout of about 140 & 220 samples d2t01 @ [8:18.831] & [8:19.190], dropout of about 265, 175 & 60 samples d2t02 @ [0:01.957], [0:02.469] & [0:13.488], drops d2t02 @ [0:18.971] & [0:19.192], dropout of about 90 & 285 samples d2t04 @ [7:26.205] & [7:54.914], dropout of about 165 samples d2t05 @ [0:50.586], dropout of about 365 samples d2t06 @ [4:12.966], small drop @ [4:16.266], dropout of about 705, 365, 100, 45 & 95 samples d2t06 @ [4:16.492], [4:17.360], [4:18.378], [5:10.560] & [5:13.705], series of drops d2t06 from [5:15.504] to [5:16.475], again drop of 431 samples d2t06 @ [5:21.205] & last one of about 85 samples @ [5:29.994], d2t06 cut @ [5:51.182] patched from LB-5764 recording., << Times referred to the original master tape >>, Note from taper, _______________, Master Audience Cassette-, Sony D6 Dolby C Maxell MX-S 100 > 1 Nakamichi CM 300, Transfer- Nakamichi BX 300 Dolby C/ Azimuth adjust > Tascam CD-RW 2000, Maxell CDR PRO, I stood about 40 feet out dead center, held the mic under my arm and tried my best to have a clear shot at the stage and speakers. My piece of crap D6 had a bad mic input jack so if I bumped the cord too hard it would mess up. There are several unfortunate mic glitches on the tape--hopefuly Luisbp51 has removed them and fixed them to the listeners satisfaction., Its a real shame they occured and as a result I never gave this tape to anyone, with the advancement in technology it is now possible to remove them and patch in another recording., My recording is in mono but don't let that fool you-- it can actually be a plus in live recording- the sound is rich, clear and full, there is no "cross-talk" between the channels or bad phasing--it is pin point and very full sounding., The Nak CM 300 is an excellent mic and really did an outsanding job, particulary in outdoor venues-the sound is spectacular., If you play this recording on a quality home stereo I promise you will be impressed--it really is excellent quality--, A big THANK YOU to Luisbp51 for taking the time and effort to clean up this tape and make it worthy of circulation. If not for his work--this tape would have sat on my shelf and only heard by me, now it can be heard by all---, ______, Equipment: Sony D6 Dolby C Maxell MX-S 100 metal > 1 Nakamichi CM 300 mic, Transfer: MC -> Nak BX 300 Dolby C // Azimuth Adjust > Tascam CD-RW 2000 -> Maxell CDR PRO, Linage: CD-R(0) master (Maxell CDR PRO, straight from taper) -> wav (eac secure mode) -> fixed wavs (adobe Audition 1.0) -> renamed tracks (Rname-it.exe) -> flac (Flac Frontend 1.1.3 - align on SB option - level 8 - verify on), ----------------, Thanks to the taper, who actually did the greatest job to get this!, Please, do not reseed elsewhere while still active in this tracker., Enjoy!, Luisbp51 (Hungercity February 2008)
