early roy martin, Early Show, Recorded by Roy Martin from the dance floor, very close to the stage but surrounded by, lots and lots of noisy Dylanites using a set of Sound Professionals Premium Binaurals, plugged into a Sony MZ-R30 MiniDisc recorder. Sorry about the loud people near me., I was in a crowded standing-room-only area, unable to get away from them., Transferred from original master MDs. Playback on Sony MDS-JE510's TOSlink output >, optical/coax converter > coax input of Microtrack 24/96 as two 44.1kHz/16-bit WAV files., Transfer from CompactFlash card to computer via card reader., WAVs combined into one large 74m WAV and fade in/out using Cool Edit Pro. No other manipulation, to the sound (such as normalization or EQing) performed. Salt & pepper to taste., SBEs correction using Trader's Little Helper. ("-fixed" removed from the filenames.), FLAC (Level 7) encoding using Traders Little Helper., TT: 74:15, Taper's comments: Oh how awesome that Bob would play an surprise hometown show on my birthday!, Tickets went on sale, after been announced only 3 days earlier, on the Monday before Tuesday's show, at a very affordable $30 general admission price. I was very poor at the time, and could only afford, to buy tickets for the early show only (or else I'd recorded both shows). I chose a spot very, close to stage on the "standing room only" dance floor which, by showtime, was really crowded., The people around me were having fun, and it shows in the recording with all the shouting, and song requests. Bob was wearing a cool cowboy hat. The first half is acoustic., Highlights of the show are a spirited "Desolation Row" and a suprise "I Want You.", This show was very early into my concert-taping years, and when I entered the Park West and, saw the large paper "No Recording! No Photography!" signs affixed to the front doors by Bob Dylan's, management, I was in paranoia mode. The mics were attached to my eyeglasses and I was standing, throughout the show, waiting to get busted. But, I had birthday luck. I even stole one of the, "No Recording" signs from the front door on my way out. Again, sorry for all the noisy people, around me. But, they paid for their tickets, too, and they deserved to hoot and holler and have a, good time., If you enjoy the non-profit trade of live rock and roll, blues and jazz, then you're invited to:, http://db.etree.org/roymartin, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bootlegCDR
