audiowhore repair, audiowhore 45th anniversary pitch and speed correction / repair version, ==============, audiowhore notes:, This is a famous show due to the one-off live performance of Coming From The Heart (The Road Is Long), a co-write between Bob and Helena Springs., There's only one known circulating audience recording - all of the 5 iterations listed on Lossless Bob are derived from the same master tape., I chose LB-7673 to work on., We're fortunate that it's a very nice stereo recording - the taper obviously had some excellent gear and was in a great spot., However, each of these circulating versions have significant pitch and speed issues with the tapes running too slow., This means that we're not really hearing what happened, but rather a slowed-down and lower-tuned distortion of Bob's excellant performance., I worked to correct the pitch and speed of each song individually., From this I could see patterns within each of the sides of the original tapes from which this circulating version was sourced., On average songs were around 5% off. Sections ranged from being 3.5% off to up to almost 7% off on tracks 18 and 19 (the worst affected)., This is not unusual with anything sourced from analogue media., Putting the sound of the vocals and the instruments back to their origin allows for a much greater appreciation of the performance and the recording., After this process, i mixed the sound to improve it wherever possible and then fixed up any gaps and rough tape transitions., These cuts occurred betweed tracks 1-2, 8-9, 9-10, 14-15, 17-18, 19-20 and 26-27., As there's only one source, there's no way of knowing what was missed in those gaps. As well, if the gaps/cuts were on the source tape or introduced with generation copies., * Another unknown is if track 1 - the instrumental version of My Back Pages - is actually from this show., It was missing from the first source documented by Lossless Bob and the version on the source i have used has clearly been tacked on from another recording., Perhaps the taper really did miss this opening song and this gap was then filled from another tape from this same era?, Or maybe it came from a second source tape of this show that remains otherwise uncirculated?, There are some further issues that i cannot fix - like the tape damage at the start of track 18 and minor crackling / popping noises through various sections., My guess is that these flaws were present on the original tape., ==============, LB-7673 original tape time: 2 hours, 32 minutes, 43 seconds, this pitch/speed corrected total time: 2 hours, 25 minutes, 23 seconds, Therefore, this version is now 7 mins, 20 seconds shorter after the speed has been corrected., ==============
